Women’s Day At Do Your Thng: A Recap
The 8th of March. Yes, Women’s Day was a Monday. And we all know what Mondays are like. Coffee, catch up with work, tea, more catch up, another coffee. Rinse, repeat.
We could barely squeeze out the time to tip our hats to content creators, killing it on social media by keeping it real. That’s not to say we didn’t celebrate. We did. Covid-style on Zoom.
A throwback to 8th March at DYT
The DYT Table seats a majority of women. So much so that the Client and Community Team, Social Media Team consists entirely of females. The sole male representative we have is our founder — Ankit.
And believe us, the team is a force to be reckoned with. It is to celebrate this force that we met, albeit through screens. What began as a quest to keep the dialogue going on women and their careers quickly turned into an appreciative and uplifting conversation.
If you identify as a woman and have been struggling to make your mark, read on. Some of the answers might surprise you, a few will echo deep within, but all will help you grow.
What women have inspired or pushed you in your career?
For most women, it’s either an immediate boss or a mother who inspires and pushes us to break boundaries. So, it isn’t a surprise that the DYT superwomen felt the same.
“My first boss, she never said no to anyone — even when our ideas were the crappiest ever. She would encourage us simply by saying that maybe instead of taking route A, we take route B, and it will work better.”

“It’s our team for me, which has been all women from day one. Maybe that’s built a unique culture where we’re not afraid to help each other. I really do believe it is because we’re women-led that made a huge impact on our work ethics, making it community-driven.”

“I’d like to thank my mom. We’re a family of five girls that comes from a conventional household. Unlike my sisters, I didn’t want to take the traditional path. It was my mother who pushed me to go out there and be independent.”

What role models have positively impacted your career?
People think role models have to be someone older or senior to us. But that’s the beauty of carrying the double X chromosomes. You learn from everyone around you.
“Dea because the woman has no off switch and is a lesson in how much work one can do. Shyla, even though hierarchy-wise she’s a junior, for her gift of gab. I’ve learnt so much from her about how to communicate with clients. With Bhavna, I am a sponge absorbing everything she says. All three have been role models for me.”

“Shimona is the mentor for me. From how to work to how to handle people, she’s available round the clock.”

What advice would you give your 16-year-old self?
This question kind of flummoxed a lot of us because sweet 16 was ages back for most of the team. A little permutation and combination got the ball rolling.
“Redefine what it means to work hard because we’re perpetually in a space where we feel it is not enough. So, even when I’m working 10 hours a day, I feel what I am doing for personal growth. I’m not working out or reading the news. So, my advice is to stop trying to one-up yourself. Slow down, give yourself a pat on the back that you are doing enough.”

“We often forget to look at what we’ve achieved and appreciate ourselves, and that’s very important. Also, my advice to a younger self is not to look for instant gratification.”

“My advice would be to learn that you can’t control everything in life, and it is for the better.”

“Don’t let your passion die down. Keep that heart and soul in what you’re doing.”

“Don’t go looking for happiness outside of you. You are your own happiness.”

International Women’s Day has been celebrated since 1911 in one form or the other. Take a moment to think about it. For more than a century, women have been fighting against violence, for gender equality, for a seat on the table and basic human rights.
While we’ve made great strides, there is still a lot of work to be done. And we’re proud to say that every single soul at DYT is doing their bit.
